"The short sightedness of the people laughing at artists about our issues with AI artwork is astounding. Stolen work and data aside, you think AI isn't coming for your jobs too? Let's chat in a few years and we'll see how cute it is when you lose your job because an AI accountant, sales rep, programmer, engineer, etc. is better, cheaper, and faster than you after being trained on your work.
It hit art and photography early because of ease of access to training data, but you're kidding yourself if you don't think these tech companies aren't scraping all the data they can to automate everything else too. Anywhere someone can shave a dollar off is something at risk.
Everyone should be worried about the ethics and legality of AI. The future is incredibly uncertain, for all of us. People are being removed from the equation across the board, high skilled, low skilled, no skilled jobs, all of it. And it's all so some people at the top can get a little richer. (...)"
